Andrews PreK-8 School receives community support to make the holidays brighter for students

Andrews PreK-8 staff, Old Point National Bank, Cary’s Baptist Church, and St. John’s Episcopal Church are making the holidays a little brighter for students and their families.

Last month, Old Point National Bank donated 80 Thanksgiving bags and gift cards (for turkeys) and Cary’s Baptist Church in Yorktown donated 40 Thanksgiving boxes with turkeys for Andrews’ families. In addition, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hampton donated 20 $50 gift cards to distribute.

The generosity, however, did not end with the school’s community partners. Staff members sponsored 32 students for the holiday season.

“These donations not only bring joy to those during the holidays, but it shows our community that our school will always be there to support our students no matter what the circumstances are,” said Andrews principal, Mario Barkley. “The donations express how much our staff members care for our families and exemplify the sacrifices that they are willing to make for our community.”

Thank you to our community partners and staff for their generosity.
