Peyton Sampley of Jones Magnet Middle School places in the James River Association poster contest

Peyton Sampley, a seventh grade student at Jones Magnet Middle School, placed fourth in the James River Association middle school poster contest: How I helped the James River win the Riverprize!

Peyton’s artwork demonstrates the many facets that go into a healthy river, from gardens to recycling.

He will receive a $50 check and a corresponding check will be sent to his teacher Susan Booth to use on school supplies at Jones.

The following was taken from the JRA website:

“Last fall, the James River was selected from three finalists as the winner of the Thiess International Riverprize, considered the most coveted international award of river and watershed restoration. The prize recognizes remarkable efforts for improvement in water and ecosystem quality, and we are thrilled that our own beautiful James took home this international honor.
