Hampton High School K-Pop Dance Club participates in virtual party with Anyang, South Korea

The Hampton High School K-Pop Dance Club participated in a virtual party with Hampton’s sister city Anyang, South Korea on February 4, 2021.

The HHS students, as well as other students and staff across the city attended the virtual party for an evening of fun, culture, education, and entertainment. The students presented information about the K-Pop phenomenon and its explosion from South Korea to the United States. Students also shared K-Pop dance routines.

Christopher Kraus, faculty advisor to the HHS K-Pop Club, said the club was founded three or four years ago by a student, Atsar Williams. She is the current president of the club.

The club performs at homecoming events, plays games, and performs their favorite Korean drama. They participated in the drive-thru Trick-or-Treat activity this past October and had a table for the Freshman Orientation drive-thru.

While this year’s participation has been a little lower due to virtual learning, the club has approximately 12 to 15 members.
