Faithe Cannoles of Kecoughtan High School is named Kiwanis Club of Mercury 64 Teenager of the Year

Faithe Cannoles, a junior at Kecoughtan High School, was named the 2020-2021 Teenager of the Year by The Kiwanis Club of Mercury 64. She was also awarded a $100 prize.

The purpose of the award is to give recognition to deserving teenagers for their citizenship, service to their school and community, leadership performance, character, and academic achievements.

Faithe enjoys painting, dancing, and reading. She is an Ambassador in Girl Scout troop 1008, YAG (Youth Advisory Group), 4-H Club, National Honor Society, third-year cadet NJROTC, historian for SCA (Student Council Associatio) and vice president for FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). She plans to attend Liberty University or Virginia Tech to major in psychology.

“We could not be more proud of Faithe. She has worked hard her last three years of high school. Even during the virtual challenges, she is still maintaining honor roll,” said her proud parents Angela Wenzel and Charles Cannoles.

In a letter of nomination, Faithe’s NJROTC instructor LCDR K. R. Wilson said, “Faithe is a kind-hearted student that is equally eager to excel in all endeavors. She is inherently positive, very generous, and unselfish. To date, she has amassed 137 community and unit service hours via the NJROTC program. These hours are in addition to her other community service efforts not associated with NJROTC.”

Faithe is one of over 90 teens who are eligible for the honor of becoming the District Teenager of the Year. One finalist will be selected from the division’s nine clubs to vie for the district honor.

We wish Faithe the best of luck as she moves forward to the next stage of the competition.
