Hampton High K-Pop Dance Club to host virtual party

The Hampton High School K-Pop Dance Club and Sister Cities of Hampton are holding an evening of fun, culture, education and entertainment as they spotlight Hampton’s sister city in Anyang, South Korea. The evening will include informative and valuable information about the K-Pop phenomenon and its explosion from South Korea to the USA. It will also include a demonstration of a variety of K-Pop dance routines from members of the club.

To attend, RSVP by Monday, March 7 by emailing blfhoo@gmail.com with your first and last name. You will receive the Zoom link for the event once your RSVP is received.

Christopher Kraus, faculty advisor to the HHS K-Pop Club, said the club was founded five years ago by a student, Atsar Williams. She has graduated, and the current leader of the club is senior Shahadah Meriwether.

The club rehearses weekly. They participated in the drive-thru Trick or Treat activity this past October and had a table for the Freshman Orientation drive-thru.

While this year’s participation has doubled. The club has approximately 12 to 15 members. All interested in Korean popular culture are welcome, including photographers, costumers, and of course, dancers.
