Mason Brown, fifth grader at Mary W. Jackson Fundamental Elementary School, gives opening at the March 2 School Board meeting

 

Mason Brown, a fifth grader from Mary W. Jackson Fundamental Elementary School, was selected to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and give the opening at the March 2, 2022, School Board meeting. He read a selection from one of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speeches.

 

Mason is very athletic and plays football and soccer, but basketball is his passion. He has moved from recreational basketball to AAU under the Boo Williams organization. Mason is an A/B honor roll student who enjoys science. He will be attending the Ann H. Kilgore Gifted Center as he enters the sixth grade next year. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games, hanging out with his friends, watching movies, and especially enjoys the summer months at the beach and visiting his grandparents in Pennsylvania. He has one older and one younger sister.

 

Mason’s mother, sisters, principal Chanda Mason, assistant principal Jasmin Royal, and two teachers from the school joined him at the meeting.
