KHS JROTC Cadets Support the annual Stuff the Bus Back-To-School Supply Drive

The Kecoughtan High School JROTC cadets and community partner, Mark Crump from State Farm Insurance, joined together to unload the Stuff the Bus school supplies on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The annual school supply drive is held every August and is hosted by State Farm Insurance and held at Kroger on Mercury Blvd.

Under the leadership of Senior Chief Fields and Commander Wilson (KHS JROTC), the students worked together to efficiently unload the school bus generously filled with supplies that will benefit the classrooms of new teachers as well as all grade levels (PreK-12) in Hampton City Schools.

LCDR K.R. Wilson, USN-Retired shared, “I am so proud of these selfless cadets. They use their energy for good service, good deeds, and good fun! Their infectious excitement attracts other students just like themselves and it keeps me young!”

Jennifer Oliver, director of community and government relations, stated, “We should all be excited to know that these are the future leaders. We had 17 students that woke up early to participate and donate their time to ensure that our students and teachers have the necessary supplies to be successful this year.”

In addition to the generous donations from local residents, Pepsi Bottling Group donated over 100 backpacks stuffed with school supplies. Supplies will be distributed to teachers and classrooms in anticipation of the students arrival this school year.
