Tandie Taliaferro, assistant principal at Tarrant Middle School, earns doctorate

Tandie Taliaferro, assistant principal at Tarrant Middle School, has recently earned an Ed.D. in Leadership and Professional Practice. She received her degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. Her dissertation is titled, School Administrator Preparation: Perspectives on Traditional and Cohort Programs.


Taliaferro earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia, a Masters of Education in School Leadership and Supervision from Regent University, and an education specialist degree in higher education administration from The George Washington University.


She has served 34 years on all levels of education and 27 of those years in Hampton City Schools. She has been an instructional assistant, teacher, and assistant principal. Taliaferro taught social studies for 16 years with 10 of those years at Spratley Middle School, and has served as a school administrator for 17 years at both Syms Middle School and Tarrant Middle School.


“I am super proud of Dr. Taliaferro receiving her doctorate,” said Carla Montgomery, principal of Tarrant. “This demonstrates how she is truly a lifelong learner. Dr. Taliaferro is a true gift to the Tarrant family and we are extremely proud of her accomplishments.”
