Kelly Champion of Machen Elementary School receives recognition from HAEOP 

Kelly Champion, administrative secretary at Machen Elementary School, was honored by the Hampton Association of Educational Office Professionals (HAEOP) on December 12, 2023. HAEOP president Joy Charbonneau, vice president Kay Ryan, and Machen principal Mario Barkley surprised Champion at the school.

She was nominated by Barkley. He said the following, “Mrs. Champion's attention to detail ensures that the daily tasks at Machen are completed in a timely and professional manner. Mrs. Champion has made my transition to Machen very comfortable. Her demeanor has had a positive impact on how both our families and staff interact in our building.”

The recognition was created by HAEOP in the 2022-2023 school year as a way to recognize employees. Any employee in the school division can nominate any office professional to be recognized and state why this person is deserving of the recognition. Nominations are reviewed each month and the winning recipient is chosen at random. Members of HAEOP then go to the winner’s school or office and surprise them with a gift basket.
