Youth Art Month kicks off with displays at City Hall and Charles Taylor Art Center

Hampton City Schools’ visual and performing arts department celebrates Youth Art Month in cooperation with the City of Hampton, by displaying elementary student artwork from elementary grade levels in the lobby of City Hall (22 Lincoln Street) and secondary student artwork at the Charles Taylor Art Center (4205 Victoria Blvd.). The art display at City Hall kicks off with a reception on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The reception at the Charles Taylor Art Center will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

Artwork at both locations will be on display from March 1 through 29, 2024. The public may view the artwork at City Hall during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday) and at the Charles Taylor Art Center from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Tuesday-Saturday).

Youth Art Month is a month of promoting art and art education in the United States. It is observed in March, with thousands of American schools participating, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations. Youth Art Month was founded in 1961 under the name Children’s Art Month, but has evolved to include students at all grade levels.
