Asbury students receive books through Book Blast

Students at Asbury Elementary School participated in a creative way to earn books in a Book Blast last fall. The activity, led by reading specialist Angela Goerger, helped students earn prizes and books just by participating in the Book Blast’s digital treasure map that was sent home.

The program raised over $15,000 to make sure every child received at least one brand new book and every teacher received at least 10 books for their classroom library.

“We are always thinking of ways to support students and families to bridge the gap with reading at home,” shared Asbury principal Elizabeth Franks. “The Book Blast event helped students get books that interested them and they would engage in while learning. The Book Blast program put a book in every student's hands and gave a set of books to all classroom libraries - a boon for all here at Asbury.”
