Zecharie James is named as KHS football coach

Zecharie James has been named the new head football coach at Kecoughtan High School (KHS). James, a graduate of KHS, is currently a health and physical education teacher at the school and has served as the defensive coordinator of the football team since 2021.

He graduated from Chadron State College where he attended on a football scholarship. He worked as a teacher and coach at Bethel High School before moving over to Kecoughtan. He is currently pursuing his master’s in education administration and supervision at Liberty University.

James said, “My ultimate goal in life is to give back to the community by helping build boys and girls through general physical fitness and athletics into confident and determined men and women so that they can know how to set and achieve career and personal life goals and become leaders in our community.”

“We are extremely excited to have a Kecoughtan grad (‘14) who has been a valued member of our coaching and teaching staff as our new head coach,” shared KHS athletic director Lucas Brown. “His experience playing at the college level and his strong ties to the community were just a couple of things that stood out to us throughout the interview process.”

Congratulations Coach James and good luck on an outstanding season!
