Kecoughtan High School band earns first place in Washington, D.C. Festivals of Music Competition

The Kecoughtan High School Warrior band performed in the Festivals of Music national music competition in Washington, D.C. The band received a superior rating, first place overall high school band, and the highest score at the event.

Students also toured the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Nick Conty is the Director of Bands.

Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader shared, “This achievement results from families, teachers, and administrators working together to provide an excellent arts program in and through music. Music education is vital for cultural enrichment. It exposes children to different styles of music from around the world, helping to foster an appreciation and understanding of diverse cultures. It also provides a platform for creative expression, allowing children to express themselves in a way that words often cannot.”
