Kecoughtan High School earns its first state track championship; Bethel, Phoebus, and Kecoughtan also win individual titles 

Congratulations to the Kecoughtan High School Boys Outdoor Track Team for clinching the VHSL Class 5 State Title. This is the first team state title in the history of Kecoughtan High School. 


It was truly a team effort on the part of the coaches and the athletes to bring home the title. The Warriors solidified the state championship by winning the 4×400-meter relay which was the last event of the meet.


Kecoughtan students Tremayne Cowart, Ahmik Allen, Daniel Danner, and Jaymes Saunders, members of the 4x400 meter relay team earned the state title with a time of 3:22.22. David Anderson, who has previously earned multiple titles in the shot put, earn the state title for the shot put at 59 feet, 8 inches and in the discus at 169-5.


The Kecoughtan coaches are: head coach Deon Moore, Brittany Day, Maya Moore, Janiyah Knox-Wilson, and William Burrell.


Kristopher Stephens, a junior at Bethel High School, won the state championship in the long jump with 21 feet, 10 inches and the triple jump of 46 feet, 3.5 inches. His coaches are: Jacqueline Slade, Mitch Mitchell, Nanette Gaines, and Jesse Jones.


Isaiah Hayes, a junior at Phoebus High School also has two new state championship titles. He completed the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15 seconds and the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 40.40 seconds. Isaiah’s coaches are: head coach Chineta Jackson, head coach Alonzo Moore, Delrico Lane, NaTasha Diaz, and Shea Degruy.
