Kecoughtan High School indoor boys track team wins Class 5 State Championship

The Kecoughtan High School indoor boys track team scored a total of 46 points to win the VHSL Class 5 State Championship title. This is on the heels of the school winning last year’s outdoor state title.

Jaymes Saunders placed first in high jump and third in long jump and the 55 meter hurdles. Chazden Wilson placed third in high jump. Kellen LaRoche placed seventh in high jump. Antione Lawrence placed eighth in shot put. Daniel Danner, III placed second in the 500 meter dash. Tremayne Cowart placed eighth in the 500 meter dash. The 4x400 meter relay placed third which was comprised of Gabriel Mason, Tremayne Cowart, Evan Adams, and Daniel Danner, III.

Coach Deon Moore shared, “At the 5B regional championship meet, we placed second behind Kings Fork High School. The boys felt that holding a second place trophy was a disappointment after winning last year’s outdoor state title. Fortunately, it was just the fuel they needed to get fired up for the state championship competition. The Warriors displayed hearts of champions and prevailed against the odds to bring home another state title.”
