Norfolk Admirals players visit students at Burbank Elementary School

After about four months of planning, the Norfolk Admirals Reading Day happened at Burbank Elementary School, thanks to the hard work of Jamie Guthrie, reading teacher at Burbank. The school held two assemblies on November 29, so that students in all grades would have an opportunity to see and hear the players. The Norfolk Admirals sent three of their hockey players; Ryan Foss, Carson Musser, and Andrew McLean. There was also a special appearance by Salty the Dog, the mascot for the Norfolk Admirals.

“The students cheered and clapped for both Salty and the players,” said Guthrie.

The players were introduced by Marco Myers, the senior director of game entertainment & fan experience. The visitors read snow-themed books to the students. After the assemblies the students had the opportunity to hug and/or high five Salty the Dog on the way back to class.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their experience!
