Jennifer Oliver earns doctorate

Congratulations to Jennifer Oliver, director of community and government relations, who earned her doctorate from National University. Dr. Oliver’s dissertation was titled, Predicting Dual Enrollment Course Completion Among Males in Virginia: A Quantitative Correlational Study with an Ordinal Logistic Regression Analysis. Her research study investigated the factors influencing the completion of dual enrollment courses among male participants enrolled at the Virginia Peninsula Community College.

Oliver previously served as the Academies of Hampton (AoH) administrator of business partner integration. Her other professional experiences have included the director of education and online development for Centura College, the associate director and campus director for Saint Leo University, and a grant coordinator for GEAR UP. Additionally, Oliver served for nine years as a Hampton City Schools college and career coach/dual enrollment coordinator.

She has a bachelor’s in human development and a master’s in student development, both from the University of Rhode Island.

Oliver shared, “There was a quote that resonated with me and applies to anyone who challenges themself outside of their perceived comfort level.”

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about. – Haruki Murakami

“For many of us, there were individuals who we attribute to the success of our persistence and in Hampton City Schools, we are fortunate to be supported in our pursuit of advanced education. My hope is that one day I too will be able to be a support for anyone pursuing additional education or challenging themselves toward a new endeavor.”

“This accomplishment on the part of Dr. Oliver not only showcases her dedication to excellence but also exemplifies the culture of continuous learning and growth we foster within Hampton City Schools. We congratulate Dr. Oliver on this outstanding achievement and look forward to the continued contributions of her expertise to our division’s success,” shared Chief of Staff Dr. John Caggiano.
