1,400 HCS high school freshmen explore careers during the annual My Future, My Journey Career Exploratory Program

High school freshmen from all four high schools had the opportunity to explore careers during the My Future, My Journey Career Exploratory Program held on October 4, 2023, at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The event is designed to expose students to a world of opportunity awaiting each of them after high school. This annual career expo showcases employers and industries aligned with the Academies of Hampton career clusters and pathways. 

The expo affords students the opportunity to explore hands-on demonstrations to help develop a greater understanding of the best course of study and skills needed to advance their career goals. Students spoke with local industry leaders and employers to inquire about career interests and new possibilities of local job opportunities they might not have known existed. As students begin to select their high school Career Academy Choices starting November 6, 2023, the goal is to provide career and educational resources for them. 

Approximately 1,400 students engaged with 95 vendors, including businesses, community partners, the 16 Academies of Hampton, and various Hampton City Schools departments.
