Next Generation Storytellers Film Festival: Reserve Your Ticket Now

Hampton City Schools has teamed up with Next Generation Storytellers to make show business a reality right here in Hampton, Virginia.

Over the past few months, our HCS high school students have worked alongside Hollywood actors, producers, directors, and other cast and crew to write, act, and produce high-quality short films.

We are excited to announce the school division’s first ever film festival where these short films will debut at the historic American Theatre in Phoebus for various showings on September 29 through October 1.

The festival will include a Friday evening viewing (tickets available), Saturday family-friendly matinee (tickets available), Saturday evening red carpet event (invite only), and a Sunday encore performance matinee (tickets available).

For more information and to reserve your ticket to the event, visit our Hollywood to Hampton website at bit.ly/HCSH2H. The public must have a ticket to enter the film festival. Do not delay, tickets are FREE but are limited and going fast!

Four films will be shown, one from each of our four high schools. The audience will be entertained with Click (Kecoughtan High School), Fear the Fog (Bethel High School), Sandcastles (Hampton High School), and Truth of Lies (Phoebus High School). Audience members will then vote on the Audience Favorite Award at the Friday evening showing as well as the Saturday matinee and evening shows.

At the Saturday evening red-carpet event, awards will be given to include Best Overall, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Staff or Community Member in a Supportive Role and Audience Favorite, and other special awards.

The winning film will be invited to participate in the Virginia Film Festival in late October in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Next Generation Storytellers is led by screen actors Jacob Young (two-time Emmy award-winner known for The Girl Next Door, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and All My Children) and Trent Garrett (known for Disney’s Andi Mack, Netflix’s Army of Thieves, and Fox’s New Girl). Also supporting the Hollywood to Hampton experience and film festival are two-time Emmy award winning director of photography Roy Wagner; assistant director for Midsommar Mercedes Williamson; associate producer of the Broadway hit Beauty and the Beast, Mark Rozzano; and special effects production designer Mick Strawn, known for his work on productions such as Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and the 1994 Fantastic Four.

This program is supported by the Virginia Film Commission and sponsored by Sony Red and Black Magic, among others.
