Pam Bagley receives the Muriel S. Wright Office Professional of the Year Award

Pamela S. Bagley, executive assistant to the superintendent, is the recipient of the Muriel S. Wright Office Professional of the Year Award for 2021.

The Hampton Association of Educational Office Professionals (HAEOP) presented the award virtually at their annual recognition reception on Thursday, May 20. Hampton City Schools employees nominate individuals for the award and applications are judged based on criteria established for the award. Superintendent Dr. Jeffery Smith nominated Bagley.

“Ms. Bagley’s high expectations of herself are reflected in the high quality of her work,” said Smith. “She goes beyond simply identifying problems; she diligently works with others to help solve those problems for the benefit of the division.”

Bagley has worked in HCS for 21 years. In addition to the superintendent’s office, she has also worked in the office of the deputy superintendent, served as assistant to the director of community & legislative relations, served as the assistant to the director of alternative education, and as the assistant to the Title I director/director of elementary education. Prior to working for HCS, Bagley worked as a church secretary and at Coopers & Lybrand.

Bagley has been a member of HAEOP for many years. She is very active in her church and enjoys singing, playing piano, and spending time with her adult children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Carolyn Bowers, a coworker said, “I have worked in the office next to Pam Bagley for many years and have never encountered anyone who is more professional, understanding and patient. She works diligently to complete her job effectively and to make sure that Hampton City Schools is always seen in the best light and that the superintendent’s office is always reflected as positive and welcoming. She is truly deserving of this award.”

Congratulations to Pam Bagley for this well-deserved honor.
